The milestones, they are coming fast and furious, like Vin Diesel in a classic Charger.
Baby girl has mastered sitting up by herself, and far prefers it to laying down. She's decided to be done with tummy time, done enough that while she used to push her head and shoulders up into yoga cobra position, now she just lays her head down and screams and kicks and wiggles, which ends up wiggling her across the floor but she's too pissed off to notice. My child, she has opinions.
We have achieved consonants, no more all vowel babbling. The B's and M's and G's and D's are here, though were heavy on the first two, and it sounds an awful lot like "Mmmmmmm bop bop bop bop bop." Sorry for the earworm. Or it could be "Mumbai."
Her grabbing, especially of my hair, is as strong as a kung-fu grip, and she is so, so very interested in watching us eat that I think she'll be excited to start solids.
And this crib thing, my god, is working out splendidly. She sleeps for essentially 12 hours with two feedings. This is amazing. Uh-May-Zing. I guess she really just likes having her own bed. And suckit to all the experts who told me we had to make the transition gradually - my kid is smarter than that, she'd rather we just go for it. This morning, she was wide awake, chilling, hadn't made a peep, just hanging out in the crib with a big smile to greet us. And a well-rested baby is a happy, happy baby.
Ok, so being a mom may not be "the best job ever" (the pay totally sucks) but sometimes it is pretty fucking awesome.
Are we sure that she's not just trying to sing "She Bop"?
